Farewell Brunch...

Sisters Weekend continued...

I thought it would be nice to let my sisters sleep in and prepare a farewell brunch for them. I really enjoyed planning and preparing this tea party inspired brunch. The best part was seeing their faces when they walked into the dining room. They were so appreciative. This spread was simple and delicious.

Brunch basics…

1. Theme: Choosing a theme that comes natural to you or one that reflects your personal décor style will lend itself to items you already own. When less money is spent on décor it can be allocated to higher quality ingredients or spirits. I chose a tea party theme because I enjoy tea parties and own tea sets and several serving tiers. 2. Color: Color goes a long way as you can see. Most of the foods in my brunch are brown, so the colors in the table cloth and the white serving tier help to break up the monotony. This tablecloth from Target plays double duty with its colorful floral print. 3. Menu: The menu should include at least two types of foods that each guest can enjoy. It’s important to take in consideration the dietary restrictions of your guest. Chose a menu that is cohesive, visually pleasing, and simple. If you choose to serve a more complicated dish, make sure it is one that can be prepared in advance. 4. Planning and Execution: It is vital to plan and execute your brunch in a matter that will allow you to enjoy it alongside your guest. They enjoy themselves much more when the host can participate in the festivities.

Happy Brunching!
